Girl Power!

EN: So, for the next month I will have the opportunity and blessing of teaching basic Spanish to the two most amazing girls I have ever met, Star and Tianna. We just met today, but I have a feeling its going to be an outstanding month, these two are going to learn a lot and have tons of fun! I can't wait to get this journey going.

Since, today was meeting day I didn't want to jump on board with the first lesson, rather I wanted to get to know the girls and have them know me as well. They asked tons of questions and we had fun getting to know each other. As soon as I commented that they were going to have a full wall to decorate and paste all of their work in, they jumped right in action with the planning. I handed them two sheets of paper and they drew on it what they wanted the wall to look like. I allowed them to use my special color pencils and my pastels which they loved, since they promised to take care of them and sure they did! They came out with outstanding ideas and I cant wait to see how that is going to turn out.  I loved their work and how enthusiastic they are about the Spanish classes. Tomorrow is going to be a great day!

ES: Asi que, para este mes que viene voy a tener la oportunidad y la bendición de enseñarle español básico a las dos chicas más impresionantes que he conocido, Star y Tianna. Nos conocimos hoy, pero tengo la sensación de que va a ser un mes excepcional, estas dos van a aprender mucho y a divertirse mucho! No puedo esperar a poner este viaje en marcha!

Puesto que, hoy era el dia de conocernos no quería comenzar de lleno con la primera lección, mejor quería llegar a conocer a las niñas y que ellas me conocieran a mi tambien. Me hicieron toneladas de preguntas y nos divertimos mucho conociendonos. Tan pronto les comente que iban a tener una pared llena para decorar y pegar todos sus trabajo en ella, se pusieron en accion con la planificacion. Les entregue dos hojas de papel y ahi dibujaron como ellas querian que fuera la pared. Les permiti usar mis lápices de colores especiales y mis pasteles, ya que se comprometió a hacerse cargo de ellos y vaya que lo hicieron! Salieron con muchas ideas  y no puedo esperar a ver cómo va a salir todo.  Me encantó su trabajo y el entusiasmo que tienen con las clases de español. Mañana va a ser un gran día!

Our First Field Trip

EN: Meanwhile my camera doesn't allow me to download the pictures from this weeks' activities and I figure out a way to download them, I thought I'd share some of my cellphone pictures from our first field trip to a local library. And when I say "kids" (plural), I mean it, we welcomed the new addition to our schoolroom earlier this month (will be detailed when I finally download the pictures).

ES: Mientras mi cámara no me permite descargar las imágenes de las actividades de esta semana y yo busco una forma de hacerlo, pensé en compartir algunas de las imágenes que tomé con mi celular de nuestro primer paseo a la libreria. Cuando digo "niños", en plural, no estoy equivocada, le dimos la bienvenida a la nueva adición de nuestro salón de clases unas semanas atrás (esto sera detallado cuando finalmente descargue las imágenes). 

Before stepping out, these two made sure they were in perfect lining and did not separate from each other. They were also beautifully matching in green. So Cute!

Antes de partir, estos dos se aseguraron estar en perfecta alineación y siempre juntos. Tambien, estaban hermosamente combinados en verde. Se veían bellos!

Once we got there they went crazy over all the books and nice little table setup. We did some quality reading which Jahmet enjoyed very much. The little one kept repeating what we were reading and going insane over the cool pictures in the Dr. Seuss books, he also stood up from the little chair to run a around and jump once in a while. I brought some paper, crayons and scissors for them to color and practice motor skills after our reading. They were both very excited and did an amazing job!

Una vez que llegamos ellos se volvieron locos con todos los libros y la configuración de las sillas y mesas. Hicimos una lectura de calidad la cual Jahmet disfruto mucho. El pequeño repetía todo lo que  Jahmet y yo leíamos y enloquecía con todas las imágenes del los libros del Dr. Seuss, también se levantaba de su sillita para correr y saltar de vez en cuando. Llevé hojas de papel, crayolas y tijeras para que ellos colorearan y practicaran habilidades motoras después de nuestra lectura. Los dos estaban muy emocionados e hicieron muy buen trabajo!

They were very bummed when it was time to leave. Our trip was very short, I just didn't want to give them a handful of the library and get them tired that first day because I want to bring them back. We had our luch in the car because there wasn't any space in the food area at the library. It was an awesome day and we hope to continue doing these field trips often.

Los chicos se pusieron tristes cuando llegó la hora de partir. Nuestro paseo fué muy corto, pero no quería cansarlos de la librería en la primera ida porque quiero llevarlos de vuelta. Disfrutamos de la merienda en el carro porque no había espacio en el área de comida de la librería. Fué un día maravilloso y espero poder seguir haciendo estos paseos mas seguido. 

O as in Octopus

EN: We are almost heading towards the end of learning our vowels; we welcomed letter O. We did a whole bunch of fun activities, one of our favorites the letter O collage.

ES: Ya estamos casi llegando al final de las vocales; le dimos la bienvenida a la letra O. Hicimos muchisimas actividades divertidas, una de nuestras favoritas fue el collage de la letra O. 

 



 

A's and E's

EN: The first few days we started on letters A and E. We had been working on the Alphabet a month before we started using this program. Once we started it we had Letter A down and then we did a small review on Letter E. We spent a whole day going over it with fun activities from the curriculum. Jahmet loved then and sure we both were excited to start later I the next day. 

Here are some of the activities we did that day, I totally forgot to photograph the other:

ES: Los primeros dias estuvimos tratando las letras A y E. Ya habiamos comenzado a trabajar con el Alfabeto antes de comenzar a utilizar este programa. Una vez que empezamos ya teníamos la letra A lista y después hicimos un pequeño repaso en la Letra E. Duramos un día completo haciendo un repaso super divertido con actividades del curriculum. A Jahmet le encanto y ambos estábamos emocionados de comenzar la letra I al día siguiente.
