Our First Field Trip

EN: Meanwhile my camera doesn't allow me to download the pictures from this weeks' activities and I figure out a way to download them, I thought I'd share some of my cellphone pictures from our first field trip to a local library. And when I say "kids" (plural), I mean it, we welcomed the new addition to our schoolroom earlier this month (will be detailed when I finally download the pictures).

ES: Mientras mi cámara no me permite descargar las imágenes de las actividades de esta semana y yo busco una forma de hacerlo, pensé en compartir algunas de las imágenes que tomé con mi celular de nuestro primer paseo a la libreria. Cuando digo "niños", en plural, no estoy equivocada, le dimos la bienvenida a la nueva adición de nuestro salón de clases unas semanas atrás (esto sera detallado cuando finalmente descargue las imágenes). 

Before stepping out, these two made sure they were in perfect lining and did not separate from each other. They were also beautifully matching in green. So Cute!

Antes de partir, estos dos se aseguraron estar en perfecta alineación y siempre juntos. Tambien, estaban hermosamente combinados en verde. Se veían bellos!

Once we got there they went crazy over all the books and nice little table setup. We did some quality reading which Jahmet enjoyed very much. The little one kept repeating what we were reading and going insane over the cool pictures in the Dr. Seuss books, he also stood up from the little chair to run a around and jump once in a while. I brought some paper, crayons and scissors for them to color and practice motor skills after our reading. They were both very excited and did an amazing job!

Una vez que llegamos ellos se volvieron locos con todos los libros y la configuración de las sillas y mesas. Hicimos una lectura de calidad la cual Jahmet disfruto mucho. El pequeño repetía todo lo que  Jahmet y yo leíamos y enloquecía con todas las imágenes del los libros del Dr. Seuss, también se levantaba de su sillita para correr y saltar de vez en cuando. Llevé hojas de papel, crayolas y tijeras para que ellos colorearan y practicaran habilidades motoras después de nuestra lectura. Los dos estaban muy emocionados e hicieron muy buen trabajo!

They were very bummed when it was time to leave. Our trip was very short, I just didn't want to give them a handful of the library and get them tired that first day because I want to bring them back. We had our luch in the car because there wasn't any space in the food area at the library. It was an awesome day and we hope to continue doing these field trips often.

Los chicos se pusieron tristes cuando llegó la hora de partir. Nuestro paseo fué muy corto, pero no quería cansarlos de la librería en la primera ida porque quiero llevarlos de vuelta. Disfrutamos de la merienda en el carro porque no había espacio en el área de comida de la librería. Fué un día maravilloso y espero poder seguir haciendo estos paseos mas seguido. 

Bee and Cee

EN: Tuesday we went head to toes over letters B and C since we had already gone over them a while back. He remembered them perfectly and we could go through them fast and easy.

ES: El Martes le entramos de cabeza y pies a las letras B y C porque ya las habíamos repasado hace un tiempo atras. El las recordó a la perfección y pudimos repasarlas rápido y fácil.

We started off with letter disks match for both letter B and C.

Comenzamos con un discos de letras para la B y la C.

We did a B and C letter Hunt.

Hicimos una busqueda de letras de B y C. 

We did number counting, also.

Hicimos conteo de números también. 

We also did a pattern activity. He is getting better at this. He is doing it on his own now.

También hicimos ejercicios de patrones. El esta mejorando en esto porque lo hizo solito esta vez. 

Graphing numbers is gettin real easy too.

Graficar números también se nos ha hecho muy fácil.

He also surprised me knowing how to count 'till number 20! He did an amazing job putting them in orders.

El también me sorprendió sabiendo contar hasta el 20! El hizo un gran trabajo poniéndolos en orden.

We went over recognizing small, medium, and large objects.

Repasamos el reconocer objetos pequeños, medianos y grandes. 

We had fun jumping over our floor numbers.

Nos divertimos saltando arriba de nuestros números. 

Writing letter B and C was as easy as 1,2,3's. "Up and down" he kept saying as he wrote them.

Escribir las letras B y C fue tan fácil como decir 1,2 y 3. "Arriba y abajo" el decía en ingles según las escribía. 

For our Arts Class we did letter B, C and U Collages. We used umbrella stickers, beans, and cotton.

Para nuestra clase de arte hicimos collages de las letras B, C y la U. Usamos stickers de sombrillas, habichuelas, y algodón.

Also, we colored on our caterpillar coloring page.

También, coloreamos en nuestra pagina de colorear. 

It was an awesome and productive day!

Fue un día asombroso y productivo!

Uh, Uh, Umbrella and Vowel Review

EN: This week we finally finished our vowels! We did a vowel a numbers review plus an assesment for each. The results were outstanding. My big boy is improving and moving along so fast. I'm so proud of him.

ES: Ya terminamos nuestra vocales esta semana! Hicimos un repaso de vocales y de números mas un pruebin para cada uno.Mi nino grande esta mejorando y siguiendo adelante rápidamente. Estoy muy orgullosa de el. 

 We had our Calendar Time and went over the days of the week, months of the year, climate, and our memory verse.

Tuvimos nuestro Tiempo de Calendario y repasamos los dias de la semana, los meses del anio, el clima del dia y nuestro verso bíblico. 

Someone was really concentrated when doing his umbrella puzzle. He did a great job! His logic skills are improving also.

Alguien estaba super concentrado cuando estaba haciendo su rompe-cabezas de sombrilla. Hizo un gran trabajo! Sus habilidades lógicas están mejorando bastante. 

We went over our numbers too.

Repasamos números también. 

One of our favorite activities is singing the abc's with our abc on the wall.

Una de nuestras actividades favoritas en cantar el abecedario con nuestro abecedario en la pared. 

With the alphabet floor letters we did some vowel recognition and pronounciation practice.

Con las letras del abecedario hicimos algunas practicas de reconocimiento de vocales y pronunciación.

We used the vowel clip cards for capital/lowercase recognition in both cursive and block letters.

Usamos nuestras tarjetitas con clips de las vocales para el reconocimiento de letras mayusculas y minusculas en cursiva y molde.

We did a vowel sort in both cursive and block, uppercase and lowercase.

Hicimos una clasificación de vocales en cursiva y en bloque, minúscula y mayúscula. 

After all our review we had our vowel and number assesments. Someone was really happy he had an amazing grade.

Después de todo nuestro repaso tuvimos nuestro pruebincito de vocales y numeros. Alguien estaba muy feliz por sus excelentes notas. 

We worked really hard at our block and cursive writing. One of my favorite things he said was: '' I am tired of writing, but I am going to keep working because hardwork is for big boys and I am one."  Once again I have to say I am so proud of my big boy.

Trabajamos muy duro con nuestra escritura en cursiva y molde. Una mis cosas favoritas que el digo fue: " Estoy cansado de escribir, pero voy a seguir trabajando porque el trabajo duro es para los ninios grandes y yo soy uno." Reitero, estoy muy orgullosa de mi ninio grande. 

For our pre-reading activity we are going to start color booklets. First off we started with red. I pasted the words on the bottom of the page so that he could trace it, since he doesn't know how to write still. Then, we went over it reading the booklet. After some repeating he read it completely, obviously through the memorization of word formation and sounds until we start with our word blends.

Para nuestra actividad de pre-lectura comenzaremos a hacer unos panfletos de colores. Primero comenzamos con el color rojo. Le pegue las oraciones al pie de la pagina para que el las traze, como el todavia no sabe escribir completamente. Despues, leimos el panfleto varias veces y despues de unas cuantas repeticiones el leyo las oraciones, obviamente a traves de la formacion de palabras y sonido por ahora hasta que comenzemos con las mezlas de consonantes y vocales. 

We worked really hard on Monday. The Big Boy made an outstanding progress. I am satisfied with his work.

Trabajamos muy duro el Lunes. El Ninio Grande hizo un progreso extraordinario. Estoy muy satisfecha con su trabajo. 

O as in Octopus

EN: We are almost heading towards the end of learning our vowels; we welcomed letter O. We did a whole bunch of fun activities, one of our favorites the letter O collage.

ES: Ya estamos casi llegando al final de las vocales; le dimos la bienvenida a la letra O. Hicimos muchisimas actividades divertidas, una de nuestras favoritas fue el collage de la letra O. 

 



 

Ai Ai Ai

EN: After our little review on letters A and E we introduced a new letter, letter I. We took around two days to go over it and we loved every step of the way. We went over numbers, writing, reading, puzzles and more. Here some pictures of our lovely days. As always, forgot to take pictures while we did letter writing in both cursive and block and our reading time. We are currently reading "Five Apples Up On Top" of Dr. Seuss. I love to hear Jahmet say, " I can't wait for the story time!" He absolutely loves the book.

ES: Después de nuestro pequeño repaso de las letras A y E introducimos una nueva letra, la letra I. Duramos alrededor de dos días aprendiendo nuestra nueva letra y nos fascino cada paso en el camino. Hicimos numeros, escritura, lectura, rompe-cabezas y mas. Abajo algunas de las fotos de nuestros dos diass. Como siempre, olvide tomar fotos de nuestra sesion de escritura en cursiva y molde y de la  lectura. Actualmente estamos leyendo "Five Apples Up On Top" de Dr. Seuss. Me encanta escuchar a Jahmet decir, " Cuando es que vamos a leer el cuento de los leones, gatos y manzanas?" El adora ese libro.

EN: He loves to jump up and down and run everytime I tell him a number.

EN: Instead of using Do-A-Dot markers we used paint.

ES: En vez de utilizar marcadores utilizamos pintura.

A's and E's

EN: The first few days we started on letters A and E. We had been working on the Alphabet a month before we started using this program. Once we started it we had Letter A down and then we did a small review on Letter E. We spent a whole day going over it with fun activities from the curriculum. Jahmet loved then and sure we both were excited to start later I the next day. 

Here are some of the activities we did that day, I totally forgot to photograph the other:

ES: Los primeros dias estuvimos tratando las letras A y E. Ya habiamos comenzado a trabajar con el Alfabeto antes de comenzar a utilizar este programa. Una vez que empezamos ya teníamos la letra A lista y después hicimos un pequeño repaso en la Letra E. Duramos un día completo haciendo un repaso super divertido con actividades del curriculum. A Jahmet le encanto y ambos estábamos emocionados de comenzar la letra I al día siguiente.
